Fall is here, the temperature has dropped, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner! During this time of year, it’s important to stay on top of your home maintenance before you’re scrambling to get it all done before the snow season. Here are some things to think of when making your honey-do list!

Safety First

Do a check to make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working. The last thing you want is to find out the batteries are dead when it’s too late!

Save on Bills

Check your home for drafts. Heat loss can be responsible for 20-30% of your bill! A quick way to check is to get a strip of paper or kleenex and close your door/window on it. If it’s sliding easily, you need to update your weather stripping.

Check Furnace Filter

It’s easy to forget and neglect your furnace filter, so if you haven’t done a check in a while now is the time. You may be grossed out at what you find!

Clean your Laundry Dryer

The cool and dry fall weather increases static electricity which can ignite lint that has built up in your dryer! Remember to give it a good clean out as soon as possible if it’s been awhile since your last check.

Maintain the value of your home by keeping up to date with all the small fixes. It’s better to take the steps to do small things now than have any big issues to deal with later!
